You have already read, heard and seen all about Apple, it’s glorious past and how the mega-awesome-God-like creature called Steve Jobs steered the company to greatness, revolutionising three industries (phone, computers and audio) along the way.

Now that he has quit as the CEO of the now legendary company and assigned Tim Cook as his successor, lets take a look at the future of Apple and what it might give us.

Pink iThings!

Why would that happen, you ask? After all iThings are known for their minimalistic, sober and sharp designs. Surely Jobs’ resignation won’t bring an onslaught of blingy, colourful devices upon us?!

Eee-yeah. Except, it might just happen. You see, Tim Cook is gay. Magazines (most certainly not this one) have rated him as the most powerful gay person on the planet. No, not that kinda powerful. The influential-business-hotshot type powerful.

So.. Gay people are feminine and femininity leads to pink-ness..

AND THUS WAS BORN PINK iTHING!

Fewer ‘Magical’ Products

The sole credit for the revolutionary new age Apple products cannot go to Steve Jobs alone. There must have been a huge team of people making shit happen for him. But, Jobs was a hands on micro-manager who left his mark on all the products and a brilliant salesperson who could convert a stretched out iPod touch into a ‘magical’ iPad that everyone wants to buy!

One of his things was that the consumer does not what they want and being the all knowing smartass that he is, that knowledge resides in his head. He took risks and created sexy products that kids in China sell their livers to buy sometimes (true story).

Will that continue to happen? Tim Cook in an internal memo to his employee that had the following content -

I want you to be confident that Apple is not going to change. I cherish and celebrate Apple's unique principles and values. Steve built a company and culture that is unlike any other in the world and we are going to stay true to that—it is in our DNA. We are going to continue to make the best products in the world that delight our customers and make our employees incredibly proud of what they do.

This is where I say, easier said than done!

No More Rashmi Bansal Books

Rashmi Bansal, according to Wikipedia, is a writer, entrepreneur and youth expert. She is the author of two bestselling books on entrepreneurship - Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish and Connect the Dots and the editor of the youth magazine, JAM.

Did you see the title of her two best selling books? Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish and Connect the Dots? Yes, those? Both of them happen to be quotes taken from Steve Jobs’ address to Stanford students. Take a look at the video, inspiring stuff :

He isn’t really dead so he can still make speeches, I guess. But after retiring, methinks they will be few and far in between.

Anyways, it looks like Rashmi Bansal has already seen the future and her next book’s title is based on a speech by Martin Luther King Jr. - ‘I Have A Dream’

All said and done, let’s hope the pink iThings never happen!
