Note: To men, who’re only here because there’s porn in the title, know that there are a bunch of women on this page for the same reasons as you.
From time immemorial, porn has been classified as a man thing. Obviously, as they’ve been peeing all over everything since time immemorial too. It’s been assumed that women get off by knitting or cooking or chicken soup for the soul. But women dabble in porn too. Extensively I might add. They may not have a TB of it on their hard drives and they can go without it for months. But when there’s speedy internet and a good enough mood, they indulge. Why wouldn’t they? They essentially have the same urges, same basic stimulants and are more complicated when it comes to …the happy ending.
Women are more complex than men. We like to read between the lines, use active imagination. Wham bam thank you man is not how we roll. Women, like a back story, which essentially is the only reason mills and boons sell. Give us a passable story, with some good ol’ romp and pomp and we’re game. Men on the other hand are graphic and, well, easy. Give them a well photo shopped pair and they’re good for the day. Finesse or imagination is never the issue.
Research shows that men are more into porn than women. That’s probably because it has women as objects, to serve men. Mainstream porn which is mostly dominated by men, is just ugly men and photoshopped women, which is good for men and their egos, as they wouldn’t want to see a man better looking than them or better skilled than them. This is probably the reason why girl on girl action is more preferred- It takes other men out of the equation completely.
When it comes to women and porn, we would like to see a hint of class, non-chemically enhanced women, some remote semblance of a plot, and a promise of better casting couches. That’s the reason Mills and Boons books sell so much. They package it well enough to make women not feel guilty about sex or reading about it. They sandwich the adultness between pretty career driven women and martini shaking billionaires, with some babies thrown in for some good effect.
However, not many women will admit to watching porn due the obvious sociological reasons. Society still frowns upon women who are open about their sexuality. The fact that being overtly sexual is a bad thing has been hammered well into the minds of women. It’s been hammered so well and for so long that most women feel guilty while indulging in any sort of aids for sexual gratification. A women open about porn would be labelled as ‘loose’. Women in the porn industry are looked down upon and are considered moral less. They are used as an example to what females should refrain from doing. It’s also been said that we don’t enjoy sex as much as men do. Bullcrap, I say.
We can never really know the statistics of the number of women open to it. But may it curiosity, or for comparison purposes, to get off or just to spice up their lives, women are finally venturing into the only all male frontier left.
